Tenner's Ten is back for week nine! Every Monday we are bringing you ten songs we have had on repeat for the week. This week's on repeats include new tracks from Jean Dawson, Tierra Whack, Skiifall and BADBADNOTGOOD - as well as another phenomenal track from Issue Two feature, Baird.
Jean Dawson - 'MENTHOL*'
(Featuring Mac DeMarco)
'MENTHOL*' is the beginning of a new chapter in Jean Dawson’s sound, featuring long-time favourite Mac DeMarco. We were blown away when we first heard this track from the duo we didn't know we needed. High in energy, the chaos of Jean’s yelling vocals contrasts the breezy guitar riffs from Mac DeMarco, giving us a song that perfectly sums up Jean’s incredible innovative nature when writing music.
Tierra Whack - 'Body of Water'
As if the release of last week’s EP ‘Rap?’ wasn’t enough, Tierra Whack has again blessed us with a sister EP, ‘Pop?’ - another three-track project that boasts Tierra’s slick and witty bars as she effortlessly fits into any style thrown at her. Tierra channels the likes of André 3000 on ‘Body Of Water’, giving us an upbeat and fresh blend of futurism and nostalgia. We wouldn’t complain once if we heard these two spitting on a track together.
Skiifall - 'Break of Dawn'
Another pairing that we didn't know we needed! The Montreal-based Skiifall has released his brand new collaborative single "Break of Dawn", featuring acclaimed Canadian jazz ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD. The new single is his most overtly reggae-influenced track yet, expertly polished off with silky smooth and uplifting jazz elements.
Khruangbin & Leon Bridges -'B-Side'
We were thrilled to hear that Khruangbin and Leon Bridges have combined forces once again to their next collaborative EP ‘Texas Moon’, the follow up to their magical 2020 EP ‘Texas Sun’. The first snippet is B-Side, showcasing the band and singer’s impeccable chemistry when playing together.
Baird - 'Darkness Of The Night'
Baird returns after his exceptional ‘Easy On Them Turns’, one of our favourite songs of the year. Now, he releases ‘Darkness Of The Night’, another gem from his next project that reminds us once again - he never misses.
Tame Impala - 'No Choice'
Once again teasing the Deluxe version of the acclaimed album ‘The Slow Rush’, Tame Impala has released the phenomenal B-Side ‘No Choice’, an unheard song from the album’s recording sessions.
Sadie Jean - 'WYD Now?'
Sadie Jean’s debut single is here, taking the airwaves by storm with her gen-Z infused ‘WYD Now?’, a song about the inability to forget a past relationship, someone you just can't get over.
MIZUKI - 'How Far We've Come'
Introducing MIZUKI, the Melbourne-based artist releasing her colourful new single ‘How Far We’ve Come’. Born to Japanese parents, MIZUKI has found influence and inspiration in her Australian and Japanese culture, discovering her own unique sound. We cannot wait to hear what’s next!
Kkami & Drex Carter - 'good morning'
Members of the Florida-based collective seeyousoon Kkami and Drex Carter have combined forces on their latest joint tape ‘THAW 2’. Venturing out into the Blue Ridge Mountains, the pair set up a makeshift studio in a kitchen and over the course of a week created THAW, experimenting and making whatever felt right with no boundaries.
BIBI - 'The Weekend (Remix)'
88rising's BIBI has released a remix to her pop-hit The Weekend, featuring a slick verse from one of our favourite rising artists, 347aidan. Further proving his versatility, 347aidan effortlessly fits into any genre thrown his way.
